Make It Classroom: Create Land Acknowledgements with Upcycled Political Signs

Event Registration
Take Land Acknowledgements further. Create your own from repurposed materials with our volunteer instructor, local artist and curator Melissa Shaginoff.

Give those old political signs a new life by painting a Land Acknowledgment that recognizes the past and present stewardship of the Dena'ina people. During this workshop we will discuss the performative aspects of Land Acknowledgment and how we can use this work to realize the actions we each need to take so Dgheyaytnu (Anchorage) can become a more equitable and truthful place.
